Editorial of the Razón de Estado program number 254
Thanks to NTN24, Razón de Estado is a continental platform that, from Washington to Santiago, and as it has always done, defends and promotes the values of freedom, the republic, and the rule of law.
Latin America has been trying for many years to build functional democracies and respectable institutions. It has spent too many years already trying to find the development model that solves our underdevelopment and offers opportunities and well-being to its people.
Our countries have had moments of victories and progress, and compared to the last century, the balance is positive. However, as the years go by, the needs and expectations of our peoples grow and are far above the reality that Latin Americans experience today.
The main reason for the obstacles and setbacks is politics, its mismanagement, incompetence, corruption, populism, dictatorship, transnational crime... and above all, citizen neglect.
Ideology has become an excuse, parties have become opportunistic tools, lies are the discourse, and unfulfilled promises are the reality. What matters most to today's politicians is power, to subjugate people, to steal lives and hopes.
And so, today we see a tragic and colorless collection of abusive, mediocre, and disreputable figures, corrupt autocrats who have trapped the majority of nations on the continent.
The four powerhouses of Latin America are now ruled by the four horsemen of the apocalypse, with apologies to the horses. In addition to their abuses and deviations, merely by supporting the criminal narco-dictatorship of Caracas, they represent a decadent, dark, and repugnant reference. Along with their populist partners, those with façade democracies, corruption, and drug trafficking, they are undoubtedly the Putins of the American continent.
That is why it is so important for María Corina Machado to participate and succeed in Venezuela. That is why it is essential for the liberal option to win in the land of Borges and tango in the upcoming elections. That is why it is crucial for Mexico not to allow again the madness that currently governs it. And to the extent that freedom, democracy, and citizen force allow us, let us restore prestige, decency, and honor to politics.
